2000 - Un Segno Luminoso per il III Millennio, Milano, Concorso internazionale di architettura
Un segno primitivo che proviene dalla civiltà dei Camuni, antico popolo lombardo, il Vincitore, simbolo legato a tutta la cultura rupestre primitiva mondiale, un segno antico che risorge imponente e si illumina alle soglie del terzo millennio per ridare forza e nuovo slancio alle nuove generazioni della sua terra.
Descrizione del progetto :
Nell'anno 8000 a.C. una roccia in Val Camonica (Lombardia) fu illuminata da un piccolo segno inciso da mani ruvide e raffigurante un uomo con le gambe e le braccia aperte in segno di vittoria. Questo graffito fu progettato in un linguaggio universale, comprensibile anche oggi. Un messaggio molto sintetico con innumerevoli profondi significati.
Fu un segno luminoso nei primi oscuri passi verso il potere della luce. Il sogno in una notte tempestosa.
Nel 2001 d.C. lo stesso segno riappare.... e riappare non molto lontano dal luogo dove era nato ma , questa volta , il segno è gigantesco. Non parla più a poche persone ma a tutta la popolazione della Terra.
E' fatto di legno lamellare, una tecnica moderna su di un antico materiale. Precise mani d'acciaio lo hanno costruito. E ora di notte e di giorno continua a lanciare i suoi messaggi.
L'opera alta metri 32.55, lunga metri 17.70 e larga metri 6, è da ubicarsi di fronte al foro di ventilazione della metropolitana, a cavallo dell'area costruita nel sottosuolo, nella piazza antistante la stazione centrale di Milano e di fronte al grattacielo Pirelli.
Sia la struttura a travi composte che il rivestimento dell'opera sono di legno lamellare. I pannelli esterni di legno lamellare montati con guarnizioni sono intercambiabili e di facile manutenzione. Alla superficie esterna precedentemente trattata in stabilimento si aggiungerà un trattamento periodico di pitturazione trasparente. La struttura alla base verrà fissata ad un basamento in cemento armato fondato su pali. Gli incastri del basamento della struttura interesseranno soltanto la proiezione dei due appoggi dell'opera, e l'area occupata quindi sarà di circa 40 mq . Tutta l'area circostante manterrà le stesse caratteristiche della sistemazione esistente.
Le acque meteoriche seguiranno un percorso obbligato ispezionabile all'interno dell'opera e scaricate a livello del basamento.
Gli impianti attraverseranno l'opera nei vuoti interni della struttura in zone di facile ispezione.
In sommità, sui due bracci laterali verranno collocati corpi illuminanti di vario tipo (fari ad arco, laser, ioduri metallici, ....) sia fissi che a movimento computerizzato in modo da realizzare una gamma infinita di effetti luminosi.
Anche effetti sonori saranno possibili applicando i diffusori del suono nelle zone dell'opera riparate dagli agenti atmosferici.
Nell'area circostante verranno collocati corpi illuminanti a flusso concentrato per enfatizzare i vari aspetti notturni dell'opera.
Tempo occorrente per la realizzazione dell'opera: mesi 6 . Il preventivo di massima prevede un costo complessivo per la realizzazione dell'opera di 900.000 euro.
